GUWAHATI: The city police on Saturday arrested a fraudster for cheating people on the pretext of offering jobs in OIL (Oil India Limited) in Duliajan.

The accused identified as Vivek Pathak was caught duping job seekers in the Six-mile area of Guwahati.

Notably, Vivek Pathak duped an engineering unemployed youth and collected Rs. 1.20 lakh in the pretext of providing a job.

As per police information, the fraudster was caught cheating people on the pretext of providing jobs in Oil India Limited, Duliajan. Vivek Pathak told the victim that he will get a job in civil engineering in Duliajan based OIL and later fled away with the money.

Meanhwhile, on Saturday the fraud job provider was caught by the unemployed youth's family while he was trying to cheat a girl through a job interview.

The family fought him and screamed for help. Hearing them, the locals rushed to the spot and thrashed him black and blue.

Later on, Dispur police officials rescued him and took him into custody.

It is to be mentioned here that, such groups have been trying to misguide young people in the name of providing jobs and people in Guwahati especially are falling prey to it.
